In an
article
posted November 30th 2008,
UFO enthusiasts are hopeful that a Barack Obama adminstration will make public classified
documents about sightings of alien spacecraft.
The Extraterrestrial Phenomenon Political Action Committee
has petitioned the Obama adminstration for full UFO disclosure.
They believe that the British Government's decision to declassify thousands of UFO sighting documents this
year builds a good case for pressuing the US to eliminate its policy of non-disclosure.
Of course the label of conspiracy theorists and UFO wackos will still permiate any attmept to seek for
disclosure. We don’t know if Obama even believes.
Seeking a legitimate setting to discuss such matters is always the problem.
I had a recent encounter with a newly elected congressman on a plane a few weeks ago
that illustrates our dilemma.
Congressman-elect Jason Chaffetz (Republican) from Utah was sitting next to me on a
flight from Arizona to Salt Lake City.
So what do you say?
I thought of many subjects and I also went over several scenarios about how I would ask him
about his believe in UFO’s and if he was willing to work for disclosure.
I had several angels to approach this subject.
Knowing that Congressman Chaffetz was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints I could have played the Mormon card and talked about how Mormons believe in
extraterrestrial contact.
In a previous article for UFOArea.com
I have made the asserting that Mitt Romney
would from a theological stand point be a better
president for UFO disclosure than Obama.
Fearing that I would be labeled a “nut job”,
I refrained from that line of conversation:
A missed opportunity or a measured strategy?
Time will tell.
I have made several public statements concerting the reality of full UFO disclosure.
Still center to those arguments is the fact that is
not in the governments best intrestes to reveal the truth.
Disclosure would not be a painless experience for the government.
Telling the truth would not invite a sense of gratitude from those who have demanded it for decades.
As the truth is revealed, an escalation of speculation and distrust would surface and ultimately our
government would lose credibility.
This uncertainty and impotence would lead to a global fear among the superpowers.
Without a clear course of action I would suppose that each administration hopes for the status quo,
and hopes that the need for disclosure will not happen on their watch.
I can assume that President Obama will be no different.
We have to create an incentive that protects the government from liability while at the same
time encourages disclosure because it is politically viable. Recent economic
events maybe the prefect cover to dramatically disclose alien technology to a small
group of scientists within a new Manhattan-like Project.
The new battle ground for
economic recovery is to emerge as the leader in energy technology.
There seems to be no better time than now to place these alien technologies into rapid research and development
to reclaim US dominance in the market place.
One thing is for certain, an awkward conversation about UFO’s on an airplane with a newly elected congressman,
by a relevantly unknown author, may have had little impact as compared to a unified voice chanting for disclosure.
Perhaps President Obama will appeaze the vocal UFO enthusisits and follow suit with the UK and begin the disclousre
process. That is the kind of change that I would vote for.
