One of our visitors sent us an image of an old coin.
This is what he wrote:
Dear Sir.
I would like to ask some help to identify this gold coin.
This coin was examined in a new machine that can detect the alloy of the metal, in that case it is almost gold ( 96%) and have little silver, cooper, silica, etc...
The weight is 8,12g., Diam. 22mm.-16mm. .
There is only one side struck.

I am no expert, but my guess is that the image on the coin looks
like a representation of an early Mediterranean cargo ship with furled sails.
The zigzag lines along the bottom would seem to represent water. The tiller seems obvious.
