During the last month (Oct), the local Newspaper, "The Crawley Observer" has found itself reporting a dramatic increase in
the number of alleged UFO sightings by local residents. Together with many other incidents reported from other areas of
Sussex over the last year, this makes the county one of the hottest spots for UFO sightings in the UK.

Large Orange
Objects over Brighton and Huge Motherships sighted near Guernsey, it comes as no surprise, that the emphasis has now
switched to the Crawley area. As a former resident of the Ifield area of Crawley,
I had a spectacular sighting of my own, right outside the house where I lived, in August 1958.
Ifield UFO 1958
This is an actual photograph of Nuthurst Close where the incident
took place and an impression of the UFO has been digitally inserted by David Sankey,
online artist, http://davidsankey.com/
David has produced an exact copy of the object I saw, as it passed overhead. It was travelling at such a speed that
it traversed the sky from horizon to horizon in approximately three seconds. There was no noise from it, one of the
traits of genuine extraterrestrial craft and it produced no sonic boom, which a conventional craft travelling much
slower, would have done. It had a slight rotating tumbling motion as it proceeded through the sky, with a small flame
coming off the lower edge.
If I were to compare it's speed with that of a modern day jet fighter, flying overhead at, say 500mph, I would have
estimated the speed of this craft to have been, at least 4,000 mph, maybe even faster!!
It was travelling from the north west towards the south east and it's trajectory would have brought it across the
western end of the final approach
airspace of London Gatwick Airport. In those days Gatwick was nothing like as busy as it is today, the occasional
Stratocruiser or Super Constellation from the States and Britannias and Viscounts from the UK and Europe.
The mere presence of this UFO should have caused some panic at the Airport, but I have never heard of anyone else
sighting the same craft, unless someone out there knows differently?
The following are a list of more recent sightings in the Sussex area.
Mothers Spot UFOs
This is a sighting from April 2002 in the Broadfield area of Crawley,
West Sussex.
A group of somewhat startled mothers, waiting to pick up their children after school, claim to have seen a group of UFOs
(Unidentified Flying Objects) or (Flying Saucers to some) speeding across the skies above their heads.

Mellanie Crowder of Broadwood Rise, Broadfield, speaking on behalf of the group, claims they saw three melon-shaped objects, of a white silvery colour, flying
over at high altitude, above the Broadfield East School, in Vulcan Close. What a coincidence Vulcan Close!!

Melanie exclaimed: "They were really high in the sky, and at first we thought they were balloons, but the way they were
moving and zooming about, the only thing they could have been were UFOs".
"It happened at about 2.50pm, and they stayed there for about 15 minutes, we told some of the other mums and they
couldn't explain what we were seeing either".
"Because it was just before the big storm, we thought they may have been electrical balls, but they would not have
stayed up there for that long either."
A spokesperson for The British Airports Authority, which run nearby Gatwick, ruled out the objects being part of any
activity associated with the airport.
Melanie explained: "I have been in touch with the flight evaluation team and they have been unable to shed any
light on the objects, and they definitely would not have been conventional aircraft flying over at that time."
UFOs sighted hovering over Uckfield
This sighting took place on Saturday 6th Oct 2007 over Uckfield and is another "Fleet Sighting" in the SE of England.
|
Jamie Smith from London Road who witnessed the craft, estimated there to be at least 60 red orbs in the formation,
after his Father had warned him to go into the garden to look.
He said it was like something out of a Space Invaders video.
I wonder what Dad had to say about them?

Jamie said: 'There was no way they were planes or anything like that. They eventually moved off leaving just two, which
also eventually left the scene'.
The objects were also seen by Stephanie Gibb and Ryan Jackson also from Uckfield.
Stephanie described them as being 'creepy but brilliant', whilst Ryan said he didn't know what they were,
but observed more and more of them flying on over Uckfield town centre.
Official records show similar sightings above Uckfield five years ago.
An object with red and green flashing lights was witnessed by several people in May 2002, which may also tie in with the
Crawley sighting
the previous month of that year. These sightings very often come in waves, which is the case currently all over the
South of England. The Fleets however are a new phenomena in the UK, but are similar to other fleets seen in Mexico
and South America. Watch them on Google Video at:

And a special Ministry of Defence report on July 30 this year shows at least 52 UFOs were reported flying over Sussex
between 1998 and 2006.
At the time a spokeswoman said: 'The MoD examines reports solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been
compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity.
In August 2006, a witness saw two objects - one changing shape and the other red and star-shaped, hovering over
Polegate.
Other sightings include seven red and white flashing lights moving erratically over Peacehaven in August 2006,
a large object seen by a pilot - the size of an eagle, shaped like three circles joined together - over Hellingly on
July 13, 2001. A green conical object and another large round object shadowing Hailsham in September 2001 and five
circular objects bobbing over Lewes in April 1999.
Rusper UFO sighting
This sighting took place in the village of Rusper on Friday 5th October.
Another strange sighting took place in the skies over Rusper on Friday October 5th 2007.
A group of 10 to 13 year olds thought they saw a projectile resembling a meteorite, closely followed by an object with
flashing lights.
Minutes after seeing what appeared to be a meteorite, a group of ten to 13-year-olds say they saw a strange fast moving
object with flashing lights.
"It definitely wasn't a plane that we saw because the lights were different, and were flashing differently", said Abigail
Russell 13.
She had been outside in Gardeners Green with her sister Elle, friends David and James Avedissian, Craig Murtagh and Sam
Marney at
approximately 7.30pm in the evening.
"David and Elle pointed to the sky where we saw a strange object hovering just where the meteorite had landed'.
(I wonder if anyone thought to investigate the meteorite impact area?)
"It moved very fast, showing red, blue and green colours and flashing. As it drew nearer it suddenly vanished before
their eyes, quite a frightening experience for youngters of this age.
Obviously the experience had a profound effect on them all, as they were at a loss to explain what they had seen.
They discussed the incident with their parents but were still left wondering what they had witnessed ?
Abigail's report of seeing a white streak in the sky after the object had disappeared is quite interesting, as
generally Extraterrestrial Craft do not leave condensation trails. This might indicate that the object was
more man-made than other worldly.
UFOs over Shoreham
Sighted on Saturday 20th October 2007.
Simon Pardoe reported seeing strange lights from his home in Southwick on Saturday, October 20th at approximatelhy 6.40pm.
Simon said: "We counted five bright green and red lights which seemed to be in the pattern of an inverted tick and
almost perfectly spaced out.
They were visible for about five minutes before disappearing."
"A number of recent newspaper reports of unusual lights in the sky have turned out to be man-made lanterns, but what
we saw seemed much more substantial and distant."
"The lights seemed to be too uniformly bright and symmetrical to have been a star constellation."
A member of Mr Pardoe's family also saw the lights whilst driving along the A27.
The fact that the lights disappeared after five minutes is consistent with Lantern sightings, but also their
ability to maintain a disciplined formation, relative to one another, also indicates they were under intelligent
control. Lanterns are blown in all directions by gusty winds at those altitudes.
UFO sighting in Crawley
This sighting occurred in Ifield, Crawley, on Monday 22 Oct 2007.
Ifield psychic, Symone Clarke, claims she was awoken from her sleep in the early hours of Monday morning, to see a
UFO hovering outside her bedroom window, at her home in Ferring Close.
This is not the first time Symone, healer and medium, has observed such visitors. Since she witnessed similar sightings
in the seventies and the eighties, which bears out other reports from around the World, that our ET visitors are often
attracted to individuals with psychic abilities. I wonder if she was able to actually communicate with them telepathically? Try that next time Symone !
Symone said: "I woke up at about 2.30 in the morning, had my curtains drawn, peeked out and thought that's a strange
star, but when I looked through my binoculars I thought that's no star."
The spacecraft was rotating around a crane near her home with pulsating red, white and blue lights.
With other spectacular sightings in the southern UK, a fleet of 600 - 700 craft seen and photographed over Essex
on the 25th August 2007 and the following day over Holland, the area is buzzing.
If you live in "Sussex by the Sea", it pays to keep an eye on the sky and the other one on the road.... when driving!
Just to be safe!!
