The 'Science in Focus' is a new addition to UFO Area designed to assist the readership in a more scientific approach to
what may seem to most, quite controversial subjects to say the least and absolutely impossible and outrageous claims in
the extreme.
The scientific approach to these subjects is, in most instances, complex and beyond the basic understanding of the average
reader and it will be my goal to reduce these complexities to their lowest common denominator allowing the reader
to 'step out of the box', so to speak, and acquire a new and more positive perspective to the subjects at hand.

I have coined the phrase, 'Teddy Bear Belief Systems' to describe the all too common human tendency to accept as fact our
firmly rooted beliefs acquired in our passage from childhood to adulthood and cling to them much the same as children
cling to their favorite Teddy Bears.
Some women still take their favorite childhood Teddy Bears to bed with them on into adulthood and even on into old age.

However, in a more scientific approach Teddy
Bear Belief Systems don't count. Therefore, it is most important to discern what is 'fact' and what is 'belief'.
To 'believe' is not to know, to accept something at face value without question.
A 'fact' is something we know to be true at this moment in time and can be proven.
However, we must keep in mind that all scientific facts are tentative and that what we know today may be proved totally
wrong tomorrow.
Some well known examples are:
"Don't sail over the horizon!" "You will fall of the world!" "The world is flat!"
"We are the center of the universe!" "The universe revolves around us!" "The universe is only composed
of our own galaxy!"
Teddy Bear Belief Systems also lead to rash proclamations, even by highly educated, respected scientists:
"Heavier than air airships, (airplanes), are impossible!"
"Flying to the moon is an imbecilic idea!" "It is impossible to overcome Earth's gravity!"
"During World War I, the airplane evolved into a significant weapon of war, however, it played a very
minor role and will never make any major contributions to future conflicts as it is only an insignificant
toy!"
In a more modern sense, current satellite images of the planets and advanced space telescope views of the universe have
turned our current scientific knowledge of outer space upside down. Ask any NASA scientist.
Hopefully I have successfully laid the ground work for future articles in this Guest Editorial section such as:
- Little known facts of what we as humans, can do.
- Debunking the Debunkers.
- The fallacy of the Drake Equation.
- Bob Lazar's Element 115 - Impossible?
- Empty Space? Not Really!
- Remote Viewing, Telepathy, Telekinesis, and Vivid Dreams.
- The Quantum World - Our World Turned Upside Down.
- Time - Ours, Theirs, or Whose?
And much, much more. Having a simple understanding of these subjects enables us to reach a more realistic view of
that which is considered 'outrageous & impossible'.
Reader's comments and suggestions are more
than welcomed.
