Is there life on Mars? For a long time, astronomers have been convinced there is no intelligent life on the Red Planet.
However, in recent times new questions about Mars have been raised.
The latest discovery of a large dark hole on the Red Planet, will undoubtedly keep the "life on Mars" debate alive.

The image above
was captured some weeks ago by the HiRISE instrument onboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter currently circling Mars.
It shows what appears to be a large hole.
According to scientists, this could be a possible entrance to a deep underground cave capable of protecting Martian life.
The hole measures about 330 feet across and is located near the giant Martian volcano Arsia Mons. The hole is so deep that
it is completely unilluminated by the Sun and it is impossible to detect walls or other details inside.

Scientists believe these types of holes and underground caves can serve as prime targets for future
spacecraft and robots.
However, if intelligent life on Mars do exists,
it would of course affect all future space exploration missions...
