A seaman's oldest superstitious fear is of being drowned and disappear into the sea depth without a
proper funeral.
According to old sea folklore it would mean to be doomed to wander over sea waters like a ghost that
neither belongs to heaven or hell.
Sea ghosts often look like the seamen who died at sea or worse
like monster ghosts with gleaming eye-holes…
